Yes, I have been in my new home for almost a full year, and I can't believe it! What is even more difficult to believe is that I have not yet shared the basic decor items I have been planning to for some time! So, without further ado, here are some of my favorite elements of the decor I have gone with. These are the big pieces, and I chose them for their combined qualities in the departments of aesthetics and practicality. Hope you enjoy as much as I do!
The art in this room is so dear to me. All of the artwork on the wall with the window is by my mom! She did these incredible pieces in the 70's, and I love them more than anything. To the right, a project of my own, that you MUST try for yourself.
DIY by DBS: Affordable Custom Art
What you need:
Ikea RIBBA frames +
Paper Source Flat Wrapping Paper, in a variety of patterns +
small posters of your favorite old movies, from Art.com.
Some current paper options I am loving over at Paper Source
What you do:
Cut the paper to fit your frame.
Use a glue stick to stick your posters to the middle of the paper, making sure to keep them just north of center (a friend taught me this, and it looks much better).
Frame and enjoy your bad ass work.
