Tuesday mornings here in San Francisco are always made better with a visit to The Ferry Building and the CUESA Farmer's Market that sets up shop outside.
Today I had the pleasure of having a client meeting hosted in the building, which allowed me the luxury of making a few delicious stops to brighten my week.
First up: SUNFLOWERS! While I failed to get the name of the farmer who always has the most incredible sunflowers at the market, she is always there during the market, on the right hand side of things, just 2 stands in. I am always amazed at how long the flowers last. You can tell just how healthy and alive they are by the sheer amount of water they drink up once cut and in a vase. Because they, unlike grocery store cut flowers, are freshly picked and have not been carted around in a truck for who-knows-how-long, you will be shocked at just how long they stick around to brighten your home!
The next stop on my journey through the Ferry Building was Acme Bread. Their bread is always on point, and today's pick was the herb slab, which is delicious. While I usually go for one of their baguettes, I will admit that my desire to keep the house clean made the choice for me today... didn't feel like sweeping up the flying bits of crusty baguette that end up everywhere when you saw into one of those (oh-so-good) bad boys.
Finally, my personal favorite, Cowgirl Creamery, where I picked up their classic Mt. Tam, along with some Blue Chair Fruit Company Strawberry-Apple Butter to pair with it, and my current favorite cheese, Lorelei, from Briar Rose Creamery in Dundee, OR.
I'd say I did pretty well this morning...
