There's something about putting on a bad-ass hat that makes you feel undeniably cooler than you did before you put it on. On a recent visit to the Goorin Brothers Hat Shop in San Francisco's North Beach, my friend and I walked out of the store, looked at each other, and immediately commented on how good we both felt with our new hats on.
If you ask me, there is literally no better endorsement that a fashion item can receive than to have their customers literally feel hotter and more confident, simply by putting on their product. Well, you certainly have my endorsement, Goorin Brothers. However, as we all know, around here we don't call it an endorsement, we call it being #dbsobsessed, and I am.
Ladies- add a hat to your wardrobe. It's as chic as chic gets, and a staple that will be with you for years to come. I picked up both a straw and a wool hat on this trip. Something for warm summer days, and something for for fall outings (or anything else really... I just really envision myself wearing the wool one at a winery. Can't you see it already?!?). The great thing about these is that they can be dressed up or down, but will make a statement, regardless of how you put together the rest of your outfit.
Now, I know some of you may be thinking, 'I look terrible in hats... NEXT'. No, no, no! Wait.
There really is a hat for every head in this place. Not only do they have TONS of different hats, but their hats come in 3 sizes, and if that size doesn't fit, they can stuff or stretch it as needed to make sure it is the perfect fit.
Goorin Brothers has locations all over the US and Canada. Here is a list of all of them. Wherever you are, get thee to one of these shops. They are all unique, and have an incredibly creative staff that clearly loves what they do, making for a real 'experience' when you visit their shops. Another amazing fact: they make custom hats! That may have to be next...
The Ella Monroe: A Fedora That is Actually Stylish
I know, I know... a FEDORA? But I think we can all agree this is not K. Fed's fedora. The Ella Monroe is a classic straw hat that doesn't scream 'I'm headed to the beach', like so many straw hats do. It maintains sophistication while being made of straw, which is no easy feat based on some of the straw hats I have seen out there...
Another great feature of this hat is that there is an internal band that is adjustable. That being said, no you cannot borrow it. Sorry, not sorry.
